Parameters Overview

Creating new parameters
Creating new parameters allows you to define how data is to be stored before it is uploaded into the platform. While you can define parameters during the manual data upload process, for any automated files or API feeds that are loading data you will need to define the parameters first.

Parameter Types
Storage Types
Storage types defines how you want this data to be stored in the platform. There are 3 options to choose from:
- Last Value only
- Stores only the latest data passed against this parameter, and prior data is overridden
- All Values
- Stores all historic and future values passed against this parameter
- Person Information
- Specific person-level parameters such as Address details, or Firstname/Lastname etc.
Parameter Type
Depending on the option chosen above, there are then a few different options for what type of data you're going to be passed into this parameter:
Last Value
- Date (Allows format mask)
- Numeric (Allows format mask)
- Option
- Text
- Y or N
All Values
These types act simiarly to the above, specified in the brackets alongside the type name
- Currency (Option)
- Custrefid-n-store (Text)
- Email-n-store (Text)
- Date (Date) (Allows format mask)
- Free Text (Text)
- Number (Numeric) (Allows format mask)
- Word List (option)
- Yes/No (Y or N)
Person Information
These values are self-explanitory. They override the basic information for that custom in the core database. These are values such as, but not limited to:
- Email Address
- Firstname
- Lastname
- Postcode Allows format mask
- Address Details
- and more!
Using parameters
Parameters that store your customer data are used in all areas as the platform, a few ways they are used are as:
- Merge Fields within your creatives/subject lines
- Segment Rules
- Delivery Rules
- Reporting
